Why should I stay back on my serve?
The primary reason the players stayed back is they cannot cover the lob. This is The style of play in doubles with one player at the back and one player at the front. the reason is, if the backcourt player runs in they are too slow to travel back and retrieve the lob. This why you see the doubles played one up and one back.
