What is the unit turn?

The unit turn is the movement of the racket backwards in the preparation stage of the forehand and non dominant hand positions the racket backwards towards the fence. the players facing the net holds on with the hitting hand and the striking arm prevents the racket from going too far back as well. this movement turns the entire upper body to help line the player sideways to the net with the upper body. This is done all together at one time so the parts of the take-back are not disjointed. That’s a unit turn.
