What is Spacing?

This refers to distance, spacing is the position of the ball in relationship to your strike point or contact point. This is why coaches would say, you’re too close to the ball. you’re not close enough to the ball, you’re not in position, move your feet. the key is the nondominant hand in the strike, for the forehand, especially, the left hand is out to the side, this is really the what allows you to understand how close or how far away you should be before you strike. This helps you position the correct distance away from the ball. Experiment take a ball hold it in your left hand, if you’re right-handed; position your hand about two feet from your side, drop the ball and swing, your racket should and body should be the correct distance away that’s how close you need to be to strike the ball.
