A short ball from your opponent presents you with an opportunity to attack; and you can take advantage of it with a good approach shot. To hit an effective approach, get to the ball quickly, then downshift so that you can maintain good backswing on an approach shot because it’s more important to get the ball deep and place it well than to tear the cover off it.
