Keep focused!

When you’re at the net in doubles, you have to be alert and prepared for quick action. Yet too many players lose valuable reaction time by turning their heads backward to check on their partner’s shots during a rally. By the time they turn back to face their opponent, the ball may already be on top of them. Instead of turning your head back and forth to follow the ball, draw a bead on your opponents across the net from you.

In other words, you should concentrate on the players in front of you, with your racquet up and pointed in their direction. By keeping your focus in front of you, you give yourself extra time to react to the shot. And by keeping your racquet up and aimed in the direction of the ball, you’ll be better able to meet the ball out in front of you for a solid volley. Draw a bead on your opponents and they’ll be sitting ducks.
