Drop shot a drop shot, seeing this option from both players perspective

Usually during very long rally matches among opponents, one of the players needs to ‘change’ something, create a different strategy for them to prevail.  One option that seems to be effective, especially on the clay court surface and even on hard courts, is to hit a soft drop shot to break up rally and create opponent to run and ‘get’ the ball that is near the net.  It does several things; changes the tempo, checks to see if opponent can run forward, are they fit etc…a lot of time, the opponent will not get to the drop shot, BUT when the player can run down the drop shot, they should ‘touch’ and drop shot ball back.  This works very well usually due to player hitting the drop shot then stays back and allows the opponent a big area in front of them to drop a drop shot.  Also, the player getting to the drop shot usually has a long run of momentum that will aid his ability to just ‘touch’ ball and see some punch automatically to create the drop shot.
