$51.1 billion has been budgeted for formal training programs. Formal classroom is far from dying as 70% of the training is still done in there.
2006
$55.8 billion was budgeted. $1,273 was spent per learner by companies, including staff salaries (ASTD Benchmarking forum reported $1,040 per employee). Formal classroom is still the delivery choice of formal training, but has dropped to 62%. Self-study elearning now accounts for 15% of all training.
