The offensive lob, much like the drop shot, is a shot you only want to use when you have some options; for instance, when you might just as well play a passing shot. The offensive lob is especially useful against an opponent who likes to crowd the net. It’s an effective tool that will keep that net hog honest. You can play it flat or hit it with heavy topspin, which will help it run away when it hits the court. The idea is to get it up and out of reach of the net player quickly (which is why you hit it on a lower trajectory than the defensive lob).
