Take the proper serve position behind the baseline, with your feet properly positioned towards the net; your right foot parallel to the baseline and your left foot pointing towards the right net post, your feet about shoulder’s width part. Draw a circle about 18 inches in diameter, well in front of your left foot. Hold a ball in your left hand, and toss the ball up so that it lands within the circle. As you toss, reach as high as you can, as though you were picking an apple out of a tree. The wrist should have very little movement and your goal would be to get 8 out of 10 tosses to land in the circle. A toss positioned too far forward will be hit into the net; a toss positioned too far back will travel long.
