Do you consider playing with an inferior partner some sort of disgrace? The problem is you do not want to play with someone of less skill than yourself. I believe hat most of us are legends in our own minds. We see Fred Perry or Jimbo Connors or Chris Evert when we look into the mirror in the morning. My game does bring to mind words like “colorful” or “terrible”, but I don’t think anyone should ever mutter or grumble about it. When I miss a shot, especially an easy shot, I would just mutter and grumble, and you’d only be able to pick out certain words:”…bloody…little…lousy…tinkerbell forehand.” Stuff like that. This commonly occurs when I’m playing a less skilled player. He just seems to get the ball back and I somehow miss the simple put away. This leads me to believe that you are the only person hitting bad shots at the Club on any given day. The next step that follows is that you are losing really badly and you begin to insult your opponent’s game. All in all, I don’t mind playing someone less skilled as myself as long as I use it for practice. I hope the disease that afflicts every good, (I mean great player), regardless of age, sex or playing ability understands one thing-“You are a legend in your own mind”.
